Plingus my beloved

 
when it came to the 3d object, i made my glorious son plingus

isnt he glorious???? there were a few tweaks i hat to do for my original design, mostly tilting his head down and resting his head on his knees so he has proper supports and his poor little nose doesn't die



After that, I took the file into slicer to double check that it worked, and added a second internal layer. the body of plingus, as well as all the slicing tests and modifications were done by me, while the hat was modeled by my project partner.

he ended up having some stair stepping on his nose, but i still love him and all his flaws. i plan on making him little plants to put in his hat so its like a little pot. he is the most joyous fellow

Object Design week 3: The sky castle

every time i have an opportunity to create something from the comic i'm creating i take it, which is exactly where this castle came into play. this is the rough sketch I based my design off of, though it did end up looking rather different in the final. I used the loft tool to create smooth connections between the towers, as well as create a rounded, sloped roof the biggest roadblock I found was creating the halo-like structures that circle the castle. I originally tried to use flow, but eventually realized it wouldn't work for the curved roof, as it only works on hollow objects. instead, I opted for a hole-punch style of creation.  i started by creating a larger structure of the roof that was about a millimeter in thickness. for the smaller halos on the roofs, I punched out of the middle of the object. for the larger halos, I added a cylinder at the bottom so there was more room to work with. week 7: egg coasters with a twist

 I was so incredibly pleased with how my final design for my egg coasters came out. I spent so much time prepping the files properly for cutting, and making sure they read as the pysanky coasters of my dreams. once fully hatched, this is how the plan looked. however, when it came to cutting the pieces and booking an appointment, I ran into a little bit of a roadblock...  said roadblock being moving. I was given four days notice before I got my keys, and only had 24 hours to move everything out. said 24 hours starting at 4 PM on Tuesday, which is so conveniently the day before our class. because of this, i was unable to get my coasters cut before the class. my bad divas.

Kennedy's Bench

                          in 2023, a good friend of mine, Kennedy Ermolik, passed away. he was only 21 at the time. it was always hard for me to process, mostly because he was all the way in California, so the truth of the accident hadn't fully hit me. that was, at least, until this summer rolled around. ever since his passing, Kennedy's mother, Nancy, has sort of taken us in as her "children by association", as Kennedy was an only child. as a friend group, we've decided to go to California in the summer, around Kennedy's birthday to spend time with Nancy.
